How much do French door grilles cost in Sandhurst?
Most French door grilles in Sandhurst fall within £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.

Fitting in Sandhurst and nearby
Sandhurst is about 11 miles from Reading, the main centre for Berkshire. We can survey and fit across the GU47 district and in nearby places such as Crowthorne and Yateley.
Berkshire mixes Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Reading, commuter semis along the Thames Valley and modern business parks around Slough and Bracknell.
Typical places for this kind of grille include:
- Ground-floor flats
- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
- Dining rooms and kitchens
- Period homes with timber French doors
Things to decide before you order

Stack positions are planned around curtain tracks and returns.
One side or both
A centre-meeting pair lets you open one side for everyday use.
Rules that apply in England
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission, because it does not materially change how the building looks from outside. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.
Bedroom and escape windows
Approved Document B (fire safety) expects many habitable rooms in houses, especially first-floor rooms, to have an emergency escape window with an unobstructed opening of at least 0.33 m², at least 450 mm high and 450 mm wide, with the bottom of the opening no more than 1,100 mm above the floor. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a release that opens from inside without a key.

French door grilles in Sandhurst: questions
Do you cover Crowthorne as well as Sandhurst?
Yes. As well as Sandhurst, we can arrange surveys in nearby Crowthorne, Yateley and Camberley, and elsewhere in Berkshire.
Can French door grilles open one side only?
Yes. Each leaf runs independently, so you can open one side and leave the other closed.
My French doors open inwards. Can I still have a grille?
Yes. The grille is set back from the doors so they can swing open, or fitted outside if there is no room inside.
How long does it take to fit?
Usually two to three hours once the grilles arrive.
