What is the price of French door grilles in Elgin?
Most French door grilles in Elgin fall within £954 to £2,034 including VAT (£795 to £1,695 plus VAT) per pair of doors for supply and fitting. We confirm a fixed price in writing after a free survey, before anything is ordered.
French door grilles are usually a pair of retractable grilles that fold to each side of the doors and meet in the centre, where they lock together. They protect the glazing and the meeting stiles, which are the weak point of many French doors.

Fitting in Elgin and nearby
We arrange surveys and fitting in Elgin and across the IV30 postcode district, as well as in nearby Nairn (21 miles) and Inverness (36 miles). Dates depend on installer availability.
North-east Scotland is known for granite tenements and houses in Aberdeen, fishing towns along the coast and stone-built market towns inland.
This type of grille suits:
- Juliet balconies on upper floors (with escape in mind)
- Period homes with timber French doors
- Ground-floor flats
- French doors to gardens
Questions we will ask at the survey
Door swing
Inward-opening doors need the grille set back far enough to clear the leaves.
Upper floors
A grille behind Juliet balcony doors needs to keep any required escape route usable.
Planning and safety in Scotland
Bedroom and escape windows
In Scotland, escape from homes is covered by the Building Standards technical handbooks (section 2, fire). Where a room relies on a window for escape, nothing fitted over it should stop it being used. We only fit grilles over escape windows with a keyless internal release.
Listed buildings and conservation areas
Listed buildings in Scotland need listed building consent for works affecting their character, decided by the council, with Historic Environment Scotland consulted on some cases. Conservation areas bring extra scrutiny of external changes. Check with the council before ordering.
