How much do counter and hatch grilles cost in Stornoway?
Budget £595 to £1,795 plus VAT (£714 to £2,154 inc VAT) per hatch for counter and hatch grilles in Stornoway, supplied and fitted. Size, number of leaves, colour and access all move the price, which is fixed in writing after the survey.
A counter or hatch grille is a small roller or retractable grille that closes off a serving hatch, kiosk window, bar or reception counter. It secures the opening between the public side and the stock or till behind, while staying compact enough for tight spaces.

Fire separation

Daily use
Choose a light action if staff open and close it several times a day.
Rules that apply in Scotland
Grilles across exits in business premises
In Scotland, the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006 make the duty holder keep escape routes and exits available and easy to open while people are present. A grille across an exit should be open whenever the premises are occupied.
Grilles inside the glass
A grille fitted inside the glass does not normally need planning permission in Scotland, as it does not materially change the outside of the building. If the building is listed, listed building consent may still be needed.

Counter and hatch grilles in Stornoway: questions
Can you work in Stornoway?
Work in Stornoway is arranged individually because of travel. Send your postcode and details and we will confirm what is possible.
Will the grille fit under our ceiling?
Compact roller grilles need only a small box. If there is no head space, a retractable grille that folds to the side works instead.
Can a hatch grille be fire rated?
A standard security grille is not fire rated. If the hatch needs fire separation, a fire-rated shutter is required instead.
Can you fit it into an existing counter?
Yes, by fixing to the counter structure or a subframe built into it.
